OUR JOURNEY STARTS NOW!

WARNING: BEFORE READING PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THIS IS A FITNESS BLOG, IT WILL FEATURE MANY EXERCISES THAT MAY BE HEAVY FOR THE HEART, PLEASE CONSULT A DOCTOR ON OWN PHYSICAL HEALTH AND WHETHER DOING SUCH EXERCISES CAN CAUSE ANY PROBLEMS.

Hello my name is Bruce and with my friends (James, Lesley) we will be achieving our respective goals for this summer (fitness orientated), each of us is 17-year-olds. Now below is a message from each of us stating what our goal is through this summer. This can be beneficial for people who are like us and would like to work on getting in better shape, losing weight, obtaining optimal fitness.  Which is why we three have created this blog, as we know how tough it can be to find exercise patterns that actually aid in your respective goal. In this blog, we will be recording workouts as well as giving tips on each of our goals

James’s goal:
Throughout the two months of summer, my goal is to achieve what I believe to be my optimal fitness level. Unlike the others goals such as "weight loss". I am not trying to achieve a certain amount of weight loss, but instead, achieve a level of fitness where not only can I control my heart under the extreme stress of physical activity but also maintain my optimal weight which is 74.1 kg at the moment. I believe that through diet and hard training through theses two months I will be able to achieve my goal. And you might ask yourself how will I be able to measure how will I know if I have achieved my goal of optimal fitness or not. The answer is a simple one the bicycle machine has a device embedded within in order to measure your heartbeat and that's how I'll be able to know if I have achieved my goal.

Lesley’s goal:
Personally, I want to use this summer to work on my fitness. During my grade 11 year, my approach to fitness had been very lethargic since I spent most of my time engaging in schoolwork. However, being on the senior basketball team provided me with the chance to improve my fitness with practices that happened twice a week. Now that school is over, this summer will be spent on becoming fitter for the basketball team and for my personal desire. I will mostly exercise using body weight movements such as push-ups and squats and tailor some days for basketball specific exercises that would improve my jumping ability and speed. To track my progress, I will measure the height of my jump before and after the two months as well as any weight gain in muscle mass.

Bruce’s goal:
Similar to Lesley the constant pressure of school has put me in a lethargic and stressful state. For many people when stressed eating is a helpful reliever of such stress this is a harmful act that took me months to control, this leads me to gain a lot of weight during my grade 11 years and I would like to not only lose weight but also get in shape for the coming year. So to measure my change over the two months I will be using BMI (Body Mass Index) this is a way to determine whether a person has too much body fat. When calculating my BMI (metric) the formula to use is weight (kg)/ height (m)^2. When using this formula I have a BMI of 26, which puts me in the middle of overweight. My goal is to decrease my BMI to the healthy zone or the very beginning of the overweight zone. Specific exercises will be used to help me lose weight during the summer.

We will be making a schedule for ourselves that we will follow in achieving our goal. This blog is not only for us but for you, as we are three 17 teen-year-old boys who want to get in shape can also guide you during the summer. This blog is for people who want to lose weight without paying and for those who have no idea where to start this can be a base for them. We hope you enjoy these next two months of determination because the determination is key in achieving any goal.

The final day will be the 4th of September 2017.
